The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Tanjungpura University (UNTAN) continues to take strategic steps to break down geographical boundaries in education. On May 15, 2026, a delegation from the Chemistry and Biology Study Programs at UNTAN conducted an academic visit to the Faculty of Resource Science and Technology (FRST), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).

The visit was greeted with a very cordial atmosphere by the Dean of FRST, along with the local leadership and lecturers. The meeting, held in Samarahan, was not merely a formal gathering, but also a forum for discussion to map out the future of cross-border collaboration.

Several key points highlighted in the discussion included plans to develop a double degree program for the Master’s level, opportunities for student mobility in Chemistry, and lecturer exchanges to share knowledge in the classroom.

For both institutions, this collaboration opens the door for students and lecturers to become more international. It is hoped that this collaboration will not just remain on paper, but will soon be realized in the form of collaborative research that will have a real impact on the world of higher education in Indonesia and Malaysia.
